The Outdoor Life

All is well with us- we're at my mom's being looked after. The children are loving it. My mom lives in a really rural area in the foothills of the Appalachians. She has a couple of small outdoor dogs, and there are chickens, too. The kids are completely entertained with the dogs. Yesterday Granny took Zora to gather eggs, and they got seven. Papaw Billy has the garden all plowed up, though it isn't time to plant yet. Today we stopped to see their horses, too, and gathered some lovely daffodils. If you stayed outdoors all day, it still wouldn't be enough for Sam. We can just go out on the porch and sit in the sunshine and he is happy as a clam. It makes me happy that both children love the outdoors. I like thinking that they will grow up knowing about planting and growing things, and enjoying nature. It reminds me that we have to change our outings to more hikes in the woods and less trips to Target.
